We may be a good fit if you’re…

  • Seeking to move forward from painful past experiences, including those in religious organizations or as a result of interpersonal violence

  • Ready to explore your sexuality, gender identity, and relationships with a knowledgeable, informed, and affirming therapist

  • Wanting to be more present and engaged with your own emotional experience

  • Interested in understanding your experiences in relation to oppression, culture, power, and social justice

Therapy can be a way to do a close reading of your life—to take an interest in the details, draw new meanings, and develop multiple points of view.

So often, life’s struggles are isolating, drawing us further into ourselves and away from others. I’m here to support you in gaining new perspectives that help to foster connection and solidarity with others.

In this relationship, I’ll offer you close listening, intentional curiosity, and persistent interest in understanding what you are struggling with and what matters deeply to you. We’ll collaborate in meaningful conversations where you can explore feelings, make sense of your experiences, become more present and engaged in relationships, and relate to people in ways more aligned with your values.

My approach is guided by the belief that problems exist in historical, cultural, and political contexts, not inside of people. Together, we’ll explore the social and cultural contexts that influence you, helping you understand your experiences and ultimately define yourself on new terms.

In our work together, I’ll draw from a multidisciplinary set of ideas, including feminist & multicultural studies, liberation psychology, narrative therapy, and queer theory. I’m especially passionate about supporting people in unpacking and resisting the effects of patriarchy, cisheterosexism, and other forms of marginalization on their sexuality, gender identity, and relationship to their bodies.

Each of us is shaped by the stories around us—the things we’ve been told are true, right, or desirable. In therapy, I hope to offer you conversations where you can explore the effects of these stories on your life, and to develop alternative stories that are more resonant with who you want to be.
